1992年9月，禅寺落成，原全国佛教会会长赵朴初先生为寺题名《种德禅寺》，并以“种德”二字题一对联曰：“以大悲水饶益三界众生遍播菩提种子；持妙花鬘供养十方诸佛深植摩诃德因”。马来西亚伯圆法师也以“种德”二字题联赠寺，联曰：“种本菩提令诸业网长空深契毗卢性海，德从三学普化妄波永息弘开华藏玄门”。
种德禅寺清净庄严，常年花草树木，丛丛簇簇，亭亭如盖，环境秀美，清新宜人。寺内现住一百二十多人，晨钟暮鼓，念佛参禅。
种德禅寺以其雄伟的寺宇，庄严的佛像，悠扬的梵声，便利的交通，吸引着无数的香客游人，成为闽东一大名刹和旅游圣地。
