观世音者，观世人称彼菩萨名之音而垂救，故云观世音。《法华经》曰：“苦恼众生，一心称名，菩萨即时观其音声，皆得解脱，以是名观世音。”观音菩萨又是西方三圣之一，与大势至菩萨同为西方极乐世界教主阿弥陀佛胁侍。《法华经》卷七“观世音菩萨普门品”详说观音菩萨于娑婆世界利益众生之事，谓受苦众生一心称名，观世音菩萨即时观其音声令得解 脱，若有所求亦皆令得，又能示现佛身、比丘身、优婆塞身等摄化众生。</span></p><p><span leaf=""> 观世自在者，观世界而自在拔苦与乐。观自在菩萨，即般若观慧已得自在的菩萨，这主要是指菩萨以慧眼观察世间的真相，心不再迷惑，身心自由自在。用经文来解释，照见五蕴皆空即是观，度一切苦厄即是得自在，所以凡是能观察真理获得痛苦解脱者，都叫观自在菩萨。</span></p></section></section></section></section></section></section></section><section
