1.6em;">》。佛陀的弟子阿难在禅定时突遇鬼王面燃，面燃形容枯槁，腹大如山，喉细如针。面燃告诉阿难，自己因为生前悭吝、贪心，死后堕入饿鬼道中，长年饱受种种饥饿之苦；并告诉阿难他也即将命终入饿鬼道受苦。佛陀教阿难以甘露水和法食解除饿鬼的饥苦，施食者可以延年益寿，受到诸鬼神的拥护。</span></p><p style="margin-left: 25px;margin-right: 1.5px;">早在佛陀布教时期，就有波斯匿王、给孤独长者等人经常恭请佛上堂说法，并延请佛陀及常随众一千二百五十人接受上妙饮食斋饭。从迎请和尚上堂的仪式上，就能看出上堂大斋的隆重程度。大众闻键槌之声云集法堂，班首带领斋主和大众，高举幢幡宝盖，焚净香，洒鲜花，至方丈室迎请和尚上堂为斋主演说妙法，与此同时斋主普同供养法会僧众饮食。</span></p></section><section
